It was a beautiful Spring day that greeted the assembled golfers at High Post set above Salisbury Plain. The morning matches saw AOGS cruising coming in to lunch with a healthy lead – 4½ to 1½.
What happened at lunch is a mystery, but suffice it to say that the change in fortunes was dramatic; only the pairing of John Ayres & Paddy Hartigan managing to secure a point in the afternoon. The afternoon score of 5 to 1 meant that the Seniors had managed to overturn the substantial morning deficit to with the match, 6½ to 5½. Still, there’s always next year…
