A Wet Wednesday at Woking – AOGS v Seniors GS

The fixture against the Seniors GS at Woking GC this Wednesday, sadly fell victim to persistent overnight rain. I was more in hope than expectation, that 30 or so golflers arrived from all points of the compass looking forward to playing over the delightful Woking course but, on arrival, it became obvious that the 18th green, the practice green and the 14th green were flooded and unplayable. There was some early optimism that we might be able to play in the afternoon but the word came shortly before 0900hrs that the course would be closed all day.

Despite the meteorological machinations, a convivial atmosphere pervaded the clubhouse; a great opportunity to catch up with old friends and to make new acquaintances. After copious cups of coffee and the odd bacon roll, it was time to reload the car and head back home – ’til next year…
